BIBA’S MISSION

The Barbershop of Iberia Association is dedicated to growing barbershop harmony in Spain and Portugal by developing singers, supporting ensembles, and creating meaningful musical experiences through education, performance, and international connection to the barbershop community.

 

Our programs 

En Armonía Convention

BIBA’s flagship annual convention, En Armonía Convention, brings barbershop singers from around the world together to celebrate excellence, education, and community. The convention features Quartet and Chorus Competitions open to barbershoppers from any association.

In 2025, BIBA introduced a quartet qualifying round, offering ensembles the opportunity to achieve a score toward BHS International Competition, further strengthening BIBA’s connection to the global barbershop community.

Held in various locations across Spain and currently headquartered in Calpe, En Armonía takes place each spring.

Harmony College

Each fall, BIBA hosts Harmony College, a weekend-long educational experience designed to deepen singers’ understanding of barbershop technique, performance, and ensemble singing.

Participants enjoy high-quality workshops led by renowned coaches, along with plenty of opportunities to sing, connect, and build lasting friendships within the barbershop community. To encourage broad participation, Harmony College is held in different locations each year.

Harmony Foundation Grants

BIBA supports the continued growth of its members through Harmony Foundation Grants, a dedicated fund for advancing barbershop education and skills. These grants have helped members expand their knowledge, strengthen their ensembles, and contribute to the ongoing growth of the association.

Members may also apply for funding to represent BIBA at international barbershop conventions and events.

Sing Harmony in a Day

As part of BIBA’s mission to expand barbershop singing in Spain and Portugal, Sing Harmony in a Day offers immersive, one-day workshops for both existing barbershop choruses and non-barbershop ensembles curious about the style.

Each workshop features expert instruction, plenty of singing, and concludes with a public concert. BIBA also provides guidance on song selection and event marketing, helping groups create a successful and memorable experience.

BIBA Music Educator Guide and Songbook (in Spanish)

Interested in bringing barbershop harmony into your classroom? BIBA offers a Spanish-language Music Educator Guide and Songbook designed specifically for educational settings.

The guide introduces the fundamentals of the barbershop style and includes age-appropriate learning materials and repertoire, making it accessible and engaging for singers of all levels.
